Fishing Report
Covering Boca Grande, Charlotte Harbor, Gasparilla Sound
Week of July 7

Redfish -  Good fish are coming off the shorelines of the west wall of Charlotte harbor as well as shorelines and adjacent turtle grass flats in northern Pine Island Sound. Darker red and brown clousers have been taking taking fish on fly. In addition, top water plugs and soft plastic jerk baits have been working well on light tackle spinning gear.

Snook – The beaches from Manasota Key to Englewood are full of snook. Fly fishing has been good with slot size fish taking larger white deceiver patterns. Also, top water plugs like Sebiles and Mirrolures are getting their share of blow ups, boils and bites. Most of the fish are moving up and down the trough at the edge of the sand.

Tarpon – Good numbers of fish have moved into the deeper holes of Charlotte Harbor as well as off the beaches of Stump Pass, Englewood, Cayo Costa, Captiva, and Sanibel. Larger Puglisi flies thrown with a ten or twelve weight have been working well on the beaches and  live threadfin herring rigged on a heavy duty spinning rod are are tough to beat in the harbor.
